Java – Bali Overland 9 Days


Discover the most famous Java’s landmarks and sceneries! In this trip we’ll take you to explore Java’s best from western tip to eastern tip, trough Jakarta – the country’s capital, Sundanese land with its unique culture and breathtaking sceneries, the jewels of old Indonesian civilization – the Dieng temples, the thousand year old Hindu and Buddhist temples, among them The Borobudur Temple – the biggest Buddhist temple in the world, the cultural heartland of the Javanese both Surakarta and Yogyakarta, with its lovely palaces, the ruins of Majapahit Palaces – the most powerful kingdom ever existed in Indonesia, and the spectacular Mount Bromo – the most impressive volcano’s terrain on earth in early morning adventure.

Day 1: Arrival-Transfer To Hotel:
Upon arrival in Jakarta, our guide will pick you up and take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure. Overnight at Hotel Aston Atrium or similar.

Day 2: Jakarta’s City Tour:
Breakfast at hotel. You will discover the most beautiful sights of Indonesia’s capital, exploring the Old Harbor of Sunda Kelapa, still crammed with old schooners from all over the archipelago. Afterwards we continue our trip visiting the National Monument (Monas), the 137 meter landmark of Jakarta built during Sukarno’s Government, crowned with 35 kg pure gold. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) or Beautiful Indonesia In Miniature Park will be our next stop, and here we’ll see the cultural richness of different ethnic groups of Indonesia. Lunch will be provided on the way. Overnight at Aston Atrium or similar.

Day 3: Jakarta-Bogor-Bandung:
Breakfast at hotel. On the way to Bandung, you will stop at the 80 hectares Bogor’s Botanical Garden to see this major center for botanical research of Indonesia-with over 15.000 species of plants and trees, and to see the Bogor Presidential Summer Palace-which was the official residence of Dutch Governor General (1870-1942). You’ll go through the cool Puncak Pass with superb view of the vast tea plantations. Overnight in Bandung at Papandayan Hotel or similar.

Day 4: Bandung:
Breakfast at hotel. Full day tour visiting the craters of Mount Tangkuban Perahu (the legendary mount of The “Up Turned Boat”) and the delightful spa of Ciater, which is fed by Hot Springs of Tangkuban Perahu. In the afternoon (at 15.00 p.m.) we’ll see Ujo’s Angklung (typical bamboo music) Performance. Overnight at Papandayan Hotel or similar.

Day 5: Bandung-Baturaden:
Breakfast at hotel. We will leave for Baturaden-one of Java’s most attractive mountain resorts with cool air and forested hills, with stops at Tasikmalaya-the major centers of handicrafts fashioned from bamboo, rattan and pandanus materials and a visit to Naga Village, one of the most beautiful and most traditional village of West Java. Each of its 102 houses and mosque are built (according to old Sundanese customs) on stilts along an east-west axis, using wood, bamboo and thatch. Overnight at Queen Garden Hotel or Rosenda Cottage or similar.

Day 6: Baturaden-Yogyakarta:
Breakfast at hotel. On the way to Yogyakarta, you will stop at Dieng’s Plateau to see the still active crater and color lakes, and then continue to Borobudur Temple-the biggest Buddhist temple in the world-built in IX century and the nearby Pawon and Mendut Temples. Overnight at Santika Hotel or similar. (Note: at night it is recommended to experience the nightlife at Malioboro Street, Yogyakarta’s main street.)

Day 7: Yogyakarta:
Breakfast at hotel. Full day city tour visiting:
Sultan Palace or Keraton-built in 1755 AD-one of the most fascinating Javanese architecture; Water Castle, Bird Market, Batik and Silver cottage industries and the Prambanan Hindu Temple dated from VIII century. Overnight at Santika Hotel or similar.

Day 8: Yogyakarta-Solo-Trowulan-Bromo:
Breakfast at hotel. On the way to Bromo, we will stop at: Surakarta (Solo), to see the Mangkunegaran Palace. Lunch will be served enroute. Another stop will be made at Trowulan-the old capital of Majapahit Empire (1292-1515 AD) to see the temples from Majapahit era. Arrive at Cemoro Lawang in the afternoon. Overnight at Bromo Tosari Hotel or similar.

Day 9: Bromo-Bali-Next Destnation:
An Adventure Bromo Sunrise Tour by Jeep and Poni rides. At 03.30 a. m. by four WD jeep we take you climbing Mount Penanjakan to the top to see the spectacular sunrise over Mountains of Tengger-Semeru. Afterwards we cross the sea sand by jeep until Poten Temple; there we ride the poni horses until the stairways to Mount Bromo. We climb the stairway to the top, to see the smoking crater of this still active volcano, and then we will be back to hotel for breakfast and for having shower. Afterwards we take you to Bali crossing the narrow Bali strait heading to your hotel in the paradise island.
